Medal for successful cooperation for Polish colleagues
There has been a long-standing cooperation between experts from the Department of Mechanical Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and their counterparts at the Faculty of Non-Ferrous Metals of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, which has brought interesting scientific findings. Professor Stanislav Rusz now awarded the joint work with a gold medal.

On the occasion of the inauguration of the academic year 2023-2024 at the AGH University of Science and Technology Krakow, Professor Stanislav Rusz from the Department of Mechanical Technology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering thanked his Polish colleagues from the Faculty of Non-Ferrous Metals for their cooperation so far. At the ceremonial scientific council, on behalf of the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Prof. Robert Cep, he handed over the gold medal to Professor Tadeusz Knych, dean of the aforementioned Krakow faculty. The seriousness of the act was also acknowledged by the presence of the Rector of AGH Krakow, Professor Jerzy Lis.

In the field of scientific research, experts from Ostrava and Krakow deal, for example, with the issue of super-plastic forming of metallic materials or the development of new layered metallic materials. They are also involved in the development of composite materials through the process of Severe Plastic Deformation (SPD).

However, the attention of Czech and Polish scientists has also been focused on the popular, fast-growing field of additive technologies thanks to their cooperation. Experts are involved in improving the quality of metal semi-finished products produced by 3D printing and their subsequent processing by the SPD process on unique forming equipment developed by the Department of Mechanical Technology. "The result is semi-finished metal powders with significantly better qualities than semi-finished products produced by the classical 3D printing method. During further processing, we achieve a higher quality of final products," presented Professor Rusz.
