The Department of Mathematics and Descriptive Geometry offers courses on Mathematics, Descriptive Geometry, Numerical Methods, Probability and Statistics, Computer Science and Algorithms for all technical faculties of VSB - TUO. Teaching staff of the department leads basic math courses in undergraduate study programmes as well as many courses in graduate and doctoral study programmes. The department offers and guarantees several courses besides regular study programmes, i.e. user and mathematical software. Since the academic board has many members the research interest of the department is very wide. It covers geometry and its applications, wavelet transformations, numerical methods of statistics, teaching methods at technical universities up to industrial mathematics and mathematical modeling of technological processes.
