Summary
In industry, important parameters influencing the acceptance of a product are its quality, properties, and tolerances for shape and dimensions. Furthermore, the number of operations required to manufacture it also influences the price of the product. Therefore, it is necessary to design the process to minimise the number of shaping operations and meet customer requirements regarding product parameters. The proposed solution, which involves the use of 3D printing technology to produce dedicated, replaceable tool working parts in the form of solid and openwork inserts, allows better production control. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a series of preliminary studies related to the selection of 3D printing materials, optimal 3D printing parameters, and volumetric and surface processing parameters, as well as material constants (printed materials and sheets made of Al, Ni, Cu, Fe, and Ti alloys) in order to develop numerical models. Testing will be conducted on the thermal and flow functionality of channels produced in a two-piece tool, the effect of the distribution of channels in the inserts on the performance parameters and durability of tools made of high-strength materials, such as M350 tool steels or Uddeholm steels with the addition of vanadium, tungsten, or molybdenum, or with the addition of ceramic powders, e.g., ZrO2, as well as the effect of varying temperature distribution during the stamping process on the properties of the formed material. The result of the project will be the development of an innovative solution for the cold stamping process of sheet metal, using two-part tools (dies and punches) with replaceable working inserts made in 3D printing technology, using the PBF-LB/M method.
