New startup stars will shine in style and online

New startup stars will shine in style and online
Green Light Startup Show online and in a stylish environment. Through the live stream, 11 projects will be presented from 6 pm on Thursday, April 29, the 5 best of which will qualify for the very finals.

In the 8th year of the Green Light Startup Show, those projects will compete that can motivate you, move you, save you effort, guarantee a harvest, dress up, make life in the city easier or cheer you up. Almost half of the projects also target ecology. A big challenge for individual teams will be not only the online presentation itself, but also the fight for qualification for the final round - only the 5 best projects will take part in it. The absolute winner will be chosen by an expert jury consisting of business personalities.

"The biggest added value of Green Light is several months of intensive work. Mentors and lecturers work on projects, and teams really have to work hard to move their project forward. This year, 11 successful ideas will be presented, which is the most in our history. The online brings us many opportunities, but also pitfalls, and we are already very curious how all the teams will deal with it," said Andrea Šimoníková, Head of the Business and Career department.

The eighth year of the acceleration program will be very unconventional thanks to the online. This year's startup stars will shine in style in the Planetarium of the Faculty of Mining and Geology of VSB-TUO. During the preparations, six mentors who shared valuable practical experience with the teams were available to the projects. One of them was Oskar Kořistka - he and his colleagues founded the successful startup Supernova which was announced the second best Czech startup of 2019 by Forbes magazine and was the only one to participate in the American accelerator Y Combinator. Miloš Lukačka from Praegon Capital and Klára Horton, the founder of CzechCrunch Shine, will traditionally sit on the expert jury. The whole event will be presented by DJ Lowa, a long-time presenter of Helax radio.
Green Light is a business support program that annually helps promising ideas to succeed and connects them with investors and companies. The acceleration program takes place in two variants - Start or Accelerator, and it is intended for anyone who has the idea and motivation to persevere to the end. A total of 340 projects have already participated in it.

The Green Light program is being prepared by Vysoká škola báňská - Technical University of Ostrava in cooperation with the Moravian-Silesian Region, SDE Solution and a number of other supporters. The Green Light program is supported from the budget of the Moravian-Silesian Region.
