Global Startup Camp of Sun Moon University (Korea) and VSB-TUO

VSB-TUO hosted on January 6th – 9th 2020 the Global Startup Camp, in which students of our university joined forces with colleagues of Sun Moon University (Korea).

The Global Startup Camp was organized on January 6th – 9th 2020, under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VSB-TUO, prof. Ing. Ivo Hlavatý, Ph.D. The event was organized by the Department of Applied Mechanics together with the Department of Business Support and Carrier (Innovations Support Center of VSB-TUO). During the event nine international teams developed their own inventions. The Global Startup Camp Award took place on Thursday January 9th  2020, when an evaluation was held by a committee of experts in the areas of startup activities, commercialization and engineering.

The winners were students from the team Wikings with their invention Stay Frosty. The authors of the idea are students of Applied Mechanics, namely Rajkumar Arokiaraj James Akshay Nicholas and Bhuvanesh Govindaraj who were in the team together with Korean students Choi Hyuk Jae and Choi Woo Sung. Their prototype demonstrated the necessary properties of the invention to maintain the temperature of the beverage for two hours.

Second place was won by students for prototype and business plan related to the invention Chainless bicycle, namely Kim Seung Jin, Cienciala Samuel, David Srníček, Yu Hyo Kyung. On a beautiful third place were students of the Applied Mechanics branch too with Team 3D Printed Hockey Stick Blade, namely Ondřej Hurník, Peniel Pauldoss Joyson Sam Devapaul and Arthanarieswaran Hemamalini Viknesh.

They were in the team together with Jakub Měsíček from Protolab of Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VSB-TUO, who helped with prototyping of other inventions too using modern 3D printing technologies available in Protolab.

Congratulations to the successful students from the department for their excellent representation of Applied Mechanics branch!!!
