The main organizer of the one-day conference called Planning in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, which took place this year in the auditorium of the VŠB-TUO, was Professor Jan Faigl from CTU. The co-organiser was VŠB-TUO headed by Professor Zdenek Bobovský from the Department of Roboticse, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The event was attended by thirty young scientists not only from Ostrava and Prague, but also from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and the University of Defence in Brno.
The aim of this forum was to boost the discussion on research approaches, to broaden the horizons in the field of planning in artificial intelligence and robotics, and above all to stimulate the collaboration of Czech PhD students from different universities, so called "from below", not forced by orders from senior scientists. The nineteen speakers provided different perspectives on AI and robotics, where problems related to the hardware design of robots may arise.
After the official part of the conference, participants moved on to tour the laboratories of the Department of Robotics, which include service, industrial and collaborative robotics. The successful event then led to informal networking.
